DRAMA & COLOR DISTINGUISH BEDDING DESIGNS FOR FALL 2008

The softened light of autumn days caresses the new decors from the house of Yves Delorme.

BYZANCE: Gloriously oversized ruby and copper damask combines with a regal stripe.

A dream encounter between Ottoman splendor and today’s sensuality, Byzance creates a flamboyant décor where curving floral damask combines with wide geometric stripes. It’s pairing here with the sensual curves of the Etole motif highlights the purity of very beautiful linen, playing with the contrast of a soothing white. The modernity of an oversized classical motif softens a taste for sumptuous baroque and the color palette of ruby and gold adds the finishing touch to this sophisticated décor, splendid for a master bedroom.

ETOLE: Intertwined embroidered ribbons make a perfect study on a simple frame.

Embroidered red ribbons wend gracefully around a straight white bourdon border on snow-white sheets and shams.

FAVORITE: Like the favored one at court, this new interpretation of 18th-century Romanticism can’t help but garner admirers.

Inspired by Versailles and its “art de vivre,” Favorite is a romantic and sophisticated choice for stylish houses. Alternating monochrome scenes like a toile de Jouy on one side, shadows and silhouettes in stylized cameos on the other, the design revisits the beautiful printed calicos of the past. The graphic motifs and the blue tracery outline a very polished interior, an ideal lifestyle “à la française.”

HERA: A rich design inspired by the English art deco prints of William Morris and Liberty of London.

Hera, queen of the gods, had as her sacred symbol the peacock. This design captures the drama and iridescence of that majestic bird’s feathers in Indanthren-dyed shades of blue, green, and teal printed on taupe sateen. Hera owes its mystery to the origins of decorative art in Britain and references the return to nature advocated by the Pre-Raphaelites by revisiting a figure associated with the liberty style.

FIONA: A Pierre Frey design for Yves Delorme bedding.

Black yarn-dyed stripes in a satin weave alternate with white percale on this graphic pattern. Alone or paired with coordinating solids or florals, it’s a design that will stand the test of time.
